About

Why Kallos?

The ancient Greek word for beauty is kallos; however, this word doesn’t mean simply physical beauty, the word refers to a physical appearance that reveals inner truth and goodness. The word is more of a philosophical term than an adjective. The goal of such beauty is to help us to love what is truly good, and to cause us to meditate on God.

In the same vein, the goal of Kallos art school is more than simply making visually appealing images. Our goal is to create art that reflects and reveals the beauty of our world. Truly beautiful art aligns our hearts with God’s heart.

Kallos Art School is devoted to forming artists who understand what it means to create as image-bearers of God. Our aim reaches beyond technical skill to cultivate a deep awareness of art’s true purpose: to reflect the goodness, beauty, and truth of our Creator.

Through thoughtful, engaging classes for all ages, we seek to nurture both creativity and discernment—equipping students not only to make art, but to make it with intention and meaning. Every lesson is designed to inspire a love for what is good, beautiful, and true, and to encourage students to create in a way that brings glory to God.

Monet Romero
I’ve been creating art for as long as I can remember. From an early age, making things with my hands filled me with a deep and steady joy. It wasn’t until the Lord graciously drew me to Himself that I began to understand where that joy originated, and that beauty is, in many ways, a reflection of God Himself.

After attending art school, I felt called not only to create, but to teach. I now teach art at Louisville Collegiate in Louisville, Kentucky, where I seek to cultivate both technical skill and a sense of wonder in my students; encouraging them to see beauty, pursue excellence, and recognize the gift of creativity as something that ultimately points beyond itself.
